Both People Tree and Rajlakshmi believe in social as well as environmental sustainability, which is why we choose organic cotton.

Organic cotton is grown without the use of insecticides, pesticides and nitrogen fertilisers. Not only does this reduce the cost by 38% for farmers, but it also protects them from being exposed to toxic chemicals and eliminates the greenhouse gas emissions created though the production of these chemical fertilizers. Through organic farming, soils remain healthy and sequester more carbon helping to mitigate climate change. Water consumption is reduced up to 91%, and there is a 40% reduction of C02 emissions per tonne of cotton fibre.
